Misfired Messaging

Email Bloopers Happen to the Best of Us.

Last fall, during the hectic time shortly before my wedding, I sent an email to a close friend. With the delightful drama that almost always butts it’s shiny head into the planning stages of such an event, the email included a slight rant regarding said drama. Unfortunately, I jumbled my pal’s email address and instead sent the message to the person I happened to be ranting about. EPIC FAIL.

We’ve all done this. Whether it be hitting “Reply to All” and sending that message (which of course bears the tag “TMI”- Too Much Information) to the entire office or repeating my failure to type an email address properly, most of us have had our ‘blonde’ messaging moments.

Last month, Slate Magazine columnist, Michael Agger, wrote about these errors of communication in his article, How to Prevent Embarrassing, Mis-fired Emails. Check out the hilarious reader responses to the story here. I am much more careful when hitting ‘send’ after my experience, but with the ever-humorous and expected re-occurance of human error, the past is sure to repeat itself.
